Beechcraft engineering is considered the top in the general aviation industry. Accordingly, their models can last for decades. The F35 Bonanza is one such example of a proven simple design that has lasted 55 years as a classic starter for the new single engine pilot.
The F35 Bonanza was manufactured in 1955 as an upgrade from the E35 with improved visibility design, sturdier wings and better fuel delivery. The F35 has a characteristic triangular window in the fuselage, which carried to the G35 series model.
This added new visibility for the passengers and the pilot, essential for new general aviation pilots. The F35 also has two extra windows in the back of the plane.
The wing design of the F35 Bonanza was also an upgrade from the E35. The wings were produced with heavier leading edges that supported the addition of two ten gallon fuel tanks in the wings.
The center section was also reinforced with a spar web and the overall heavier weight of the F35 led to a cleaner, easier flying experience. These same features remain in the F35 Bonanzas of today.
The engine of the F35 remained the same from the E35 model, which is the Continental E-225-8 capable of up to 160 knots. In today’s modern single engine aircraft market, you’re likely to find a nice F35 Bonanza with many upgrades such as GPS receivers and upgraded instrument equipment.
Even with these modern conveniences, you can purchase a F35 for around $45,000 to $50,000. This is a modest investment for a great flying single engine aircraft.
