Produced between 1963 and 1983, the Beechcraft Musketeer is one of the least expensive single engine general aviation aircraft in the industry. Sporty, light and powerful, the Beechcraft Musketeer is highly sought after even after 30 years of use.
The Musketeers also come loaded with many options that allow pilot and hobbyists to cut down on purchasing cost and maintenance cost.
The first Musketeer model ever produced was the 1963 Model 23. This light utility single engine aircraft came equipped with several different engine options: a 160 horsepower Lycoming O-320-D2B engine, a 165 horsepower Lycoming O-360-A engine or a custom-molded 180 horsepower Lycoming O-360-A4J. The only unsuccessful engine of the Musketeer was the 1964 Lycoming O-360-A engine.
The next iteration of theMusketeer was the Model 19 “Sport”. This single engine aircraft came with a 150 horsepower Lycoming O-320-E2C. This sporty model is especially attractive to new pilots and hobbyists on a budget. Today this is one of the most inexpensive, but fun, Beechcraft models a single engine pilot could buy.
Finally, the 1966 Model 23-24 Musketeer is the heavy duty version of this aircraft. Powered with a 200 horsepower engine, the Musketeer can transport over 1000 pounds of payload and carried a low price tag.
The best part about the Musketeer is its ability to perform acrobatic feats when properly equipped. The light design, moderately powerful engine and utility-focused engineering gives this plane a special appeal to the hobbyists looking for a part-time flying airplane.
