Most people have completed or are in the process of completing their flight training using a Cessna 150. They are a great little airplane to buy and own, but with all the different ones on the market right now, which is the best one for you to own? I would like to share with you a couple insider secrets you need to know before you make your purchase.
Cessna 150 Buying Secret #1:
You need to think about the fact you’re buying a 2 seater aircraft! This may sound stupid, but the reality is once you buy a 2 seater you’re stuck with it. That is okay if that is what you want, but if you are thinking that in the near future you’ll be hauling more then yourself and one other around you need to think about buying the next level up.
This is a great airplane to own if you’re going to be flying by yourself most of the time! If not, then think about upsizing a bit to a 172 or even a Piper Cherokee.
Cessna 150 Buying Secret #2:
Don’t focus on buying one that is too new! These are pretty basic airplanes and even the really old ones are great to own. You want to focus on “Total Time” and “Time On Engine” (TBO). These are your gauges of to which airplane you should by. You want to find the one with the lowest time possible for the simple fact that when you go to resell it someday it will standout more then the others. And you’ll get more money for it!
