Cessna 172

Is This All Time "Classic" Still A Good Buy?

The Cessna 172 is the second generation version of the Cessna 170 - Tail Dragger. The early models were nothing more then a 170 with tricycle gear verses the tail wheel.

The first one came off the factory line in 1956 and there have now been over 40,000 made over the last 50+ years. It is also no secret that this aircraft is a very popular flight trainer, probably second to the 150/152 model.

But what about using the 172 as a personal aircraft for flying around your area or for business?

These aircraft are still a great buy.. You can pick them up on the cheap if you know what your doing and if you properly do your research. A Used Cessna 172 is still a great buy compared to the other manufactured aircraft out there. As far as the performance specifications go, your probably going to get a 115-120 knot cruise speed, depending on the model you choose.

The hard thing about buying a 172 is the fact there are so many different models to choose from! You have the A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S & now the Turbo Diesel - TD.

The other hard thing about buying one is the fact that they are a commodity! Meaning, there are SO MANY for sale that when you go to sell yours, you are not likely going to get the best value for it as you could be competing with hundreds of other used Cessna's that are for sale at the same time.
