The Piper Arrow

Piper Aircraft is a great brand for new pilots because they provide training aircraft for any level of experience. If you’re brand new to flight, the Warrior is an excellent starting plane to learn VFR.

If you’re experienced, the Archer can provide most IFR training and can quickly become the family plane. Designed for more advanced pilots and those seeking commercial upgrade, the Piper Arrow offers a single engine solution for a complex flying environment.

The Piper Arrow has a powerful range of about 800 miles and can pack quite a lot of weight (1200 useful payload). The Piper Arrow is basically an Archer with retractable landing gear and nearly 7 hours of flying time. While the Arrow is not the most powerful single engine aircraft out there, it serves as a less expensive alternative to the Bonanza or the very expensive Mooney.

Accordingly, the Arrow has a very similar design to the Archer. The plane can seat up to four with luggage and offers basic seating comfort. It also comes equipped with cabin heating, air conditioning and a standard glass cockpit suite that saves much upgrade money later on.

Today, a pilot can purchase an Arrow for around $230,000 new, and used for around $200,000. This is a considerable difference from comparable aircraft that go for hundreds of thousands more. For new and novice pilots, this is only an added benefit and makes the Arrow a well-sought after single engine aircraft. Accordingly, many flight schools choose to use this aircraft as their IFR trainer of choice.
