Is This Piper Original Worth Buying?
The Piper Clipper is really the model that kicked off the next generation of Piper's. Right after the Clipper came the Pacer & the Tri-Pacer.
The Clipper was produced for one whole year... 1949! As well, only 800 were ever made at that factory. There were so few produced because the Pacer & Tri-Pacer were already in the design stage and were more modernized.
As far as performance specifications, the Clipper cruises at about 100 knots and has a range of about 380 miles. It is not bad for an aircraft made in 1949!
If your looking to buy one, you'll have to look pretty hard as not all 800 are still in service. Many pilots have purchased Clippers and rebuilt or restored them to their original condition and are sitting on them and won't let them go. So if your looking to buy one, make sure you look and inquire at a few Piper owners clubs as someone might know of one for sale.
